Are you interested in sharing your quilting skills, donating quilts (and smiles) to our local communities and having fun while doing sew?

Community Service Committee (CSC) oversees Quilters' Guild Acadienne's donations to the community.

The CARE quilts are donated to:

  • Military veterans in nursing homes

  • Hospice facilities, sheriff/police/file departments (kids quilts to carry in their vehicles when a child has experienced a traumatic event)

  • Kids and adults in shelters

  • Any other persons in need of a CARE quilt plus a smile!

Fabric and other quilting supplies are donated by the generosity of quilt members. We prepare "Kits" and distribute to guild members who volunteer to help with our cause. You can complete any part of the "Kit" (piecing only, piecing + quilting, etc.). When returned to CSC, we finish the quilt, add a quilt label and donate accordingly. We also accept complete quilts (non-Kits).

  • Organized January 25, 2014 for quilters of any age or level of experience who want to explore the Modern Quilting genre.

  • We do not have officers or rules, just fun getting together.

  • Mod Squad is a QGA affiliated bee, meaning all members are QGA members.

  • Guests are welcome to check us out a couple of times but after that must join QGA to continue.

  • It is not necessary to be a member of The Modern Quilt Guild but many of us have become members through the Baton Rouge Modern Quilt Guild or are individual members.

  • We gather once a month to discuss aspects of modern quilting and share our knowledge of it.

  • You may see a demo, hear about a new book or pattern, join a group project or take the time to work on your own project.

  • We love stepping out of the box!
